Seville is usually associated with flamenco, palaces, hot Andalusian streets and historic neighbourhoods, but the city is also great for a family holiday. In addition to its famous attractions, there are theme parks, water parks, an aquarium, green spaces for walks and plenty of entertainment for children and adults.

Although Seville cannot compete with the Costa del Sol or the resorts of Catalonia in terms of the number of theme parks, there are several popular places in and around the city that are ideal for a family holiday, especially if you are travelling with children and want to take a short break from museums and architectural landmarks.

Isla Mágica is considered Seville's main theme park, while nearby on La Cartuja island you will find the unusual panoramic balloon Nao Vigía.

Isla Mágica theme park

Isla Mágica is Seville's main theme park, located on La Cartuja island (Isla de la Cartuja), not far from the city's historic centre.

The park opened in 1997 on the site of the former Expo’92 World's Fair, which was held in Seville. After the exhibition, many of the pavilions and areas were transformed into a themed entertainment space dedicated to the Age of Discovery and Spain's maritime expeditions.

Isla Mágica's main feature is its combination of rides, historical themes and Andalusian atmosphere. The site is divided into several themed areas inspired by the age of Columbus, pirate stories, exotic countries and the adventures of seafarers.

Here you can find both family rides and more extreme attractions. Some of the most popular include the Jaguar roller coaster, the Anaconda water ride with steep drops, pirate ships and various areas with interactive shows and performances.

Seville Balloon Viewpoint — Nao Vigía (Globo de Sevilla)

Nao Vigía is an unusual panoramic balloon on La Cartuja island next to Isla Mágica, offering views of Seville from a height of up to 150 metres.

The balloon opened in 2023 and was named “Nao Vigía” in honour of Seville's maritime history and the Age of Discovery. It is located in the Sevilla Puerto de Indias themed area and recalls the time when Seville was Spain's main port on the route to the New World.

Unlike classic hot-air balloons, Nao Vigía is a tethered balloon: the huge balloon rises vertically on a steel cable, making the ascent very smooth and calm. During the ascent, you get panoramic views of Seville's historic centre, the Giralda, the Guadalquivir River, Plaza de España and the city's modern districts.

It is especially beautiful here at sunset, when a soft golden light appears over Seville and the city gradually begins to glow with evening lights.

Agua Mágica water park

Agua Mágica is a water area and mini water park within Isla Mágica on La Cartuja island, created for relaxing on hot summer days. The complex opened in 2014 as an extension of Isla Mágica and became one of the main reasons to visit the park during the summer season.

Here you will find the Playa Quetzal artificial beach with real sand and a wave pool, the Río Lento lazy river for relaxing on inflatable rings, water slides and family areas with fountains and play areas. There are shallow pools and mini slides for children, while adults can relax on sun loungers and in shaded areas.

The main advantage of Agua Mágica is the opportunity to combine the rides at Isla Mágica with time by the water as part of the same visit. This is especially convenient during the height of the Andalusian summer, when after several hours on the rides you can switch to the pools and water attractions.

In terms of atmosphere, Agua Mágica resembles a small urban beach: there are cafés and relaxation areas, and the atmosphere is calmer and more family-friendly than at the large water parks on the coast.

Guadalpark water park

Guadalpark is one of Seville's popular water parks, located in the Sevilla Este district, east of the historic centre. In summer, it becomes a popular place for both locals and tourists to relax.

The park was previously known as Aquopolis Sevilla, so the old name is still used. Following its rebranding, the water park now operates under the name Guadalpark.

Unlike the themed Agua Mágica, Guadalpark is more like a large, traditional water park, with a focus on water attractions and pools. There are more than 15 slides and leisure areas, ranging from the extreme Kamikaze and Black Hole to family attractions and relaxing pools.

Popular attractions include the high-speed Speed Race slides, the enclosed Black Hole slide, a wave pool and gentle water rides. Seville Aquarium (Aquarium Sevilla)

Seville Aquarium is a modern aquarium on the Guadalquivir riverfront, not far from María Luisa Park and Plaza de España.

The aquarium is dedicated to the marine world and is linked to the history of Ferdinand Magellan's voyage — his famous expedition on the first circumnavigation of the globe set off from Seville. For this reason, some areas of Aquarium Sevilla are designed to take visitors on a journey through different seas and oceans.

The main feature of the complex is a large underwater tunnel where you can see sharks, rays and other marine life. There are also tropical fish, jellyfish, sea turtles, octopuses and other species.

MundoPark zoo

MundoPark is a small family animal park in the Guillena area, about half an hour's drive from Seville city centre. In terms of atmosphere, it is more like a cosy mini zoo than a traditional large zoo.

Here you can see flamingos, lemurs, kangaroos, parrots, meerkats, tortoises, raccoons and many other animals and birds. Some areas allow children to observe the animals from very close up.

Small educational and entertainment shows with birds and animals take place on the site, while a walk along the green paths takes several hours.

La Reserva El Castillo de las Guardas safari park

La Reserva Natural El Castillo de las Guardas is a large safari park about an hour's drive from Seville, set in the Andalusian countryside. It covers more than 200 hectares of former mining land, where animals are kept in conditions as close as possible to their natural habitat.

The park's main attraction is its safari route, which you can follow in your own car or take by special train. During the journey, you can see giraffes, zebras, lions, rhinos, hippos, elephants, tigers, camels and dozens of other animals. Some of them come very close to the vehicles.

In addition to the safari, there are walking areas, bird enclosures, mini-farms, birds of prey shows, children's areas and leisure areas.

Many visitors come here for the whole day, combining time with the animals with a chance to enjoy the countryside outside Seville.

Cañada de los Pájaros bird park

Cañada de los Pájaros is a nature park and bird sanctuary in the Puebla del Río area, near the natural areas of Doñana and the wetlands of the Guadalquivir River. It is a peaceful place for walks and birdwatching near Seville.

The reserve was created on the site of a former gravel quarry, which was later transformed into a natural lagoon to restore the ecosystem. Over time, waterfowl began returning here, and the project became one of Andalusia's best-known private bird parks.

Today you can see flamingos, storks, pelicans, swans, ducks, ibises, cranes and dozens of other species here. Wooden walkways and viewing platforms allow you to observe the birds in an almost natural habitat.

The park is particularly interesting to visit in spring and autumn, when seasonal bird migrations pass through Andalusia. The water, greenery and peaceful surroundings make Cañada de los Pájaros a good place for those who want to see a more natural side of the region.

🌲 Nature parks and walks

In Seville and its surroundings, there are both famous historic parks and modern natural spaces with lakes, children's play areas, cycle paths and outdoor activities.

Parque de María Luisa

Parque de María Luisa is Seville's most famous park, located next to Plaza de España and the Guadalquivir River. Its shady avenues, fountains and gardens have long made it one of the city's favourite places for walks.

The history of the park is closely linked to the 1929 World's Fair. The grounds originally belonged to San Telmo Palace, but in the late 19th century Infanta María Luisa donated the gardens to the city. The park was later renovated for the Ibero-American Exhibition, which brought Plaza de España, Plaza de América and other famous pavilions to Seville.

Today, the park is home to palm trees, orange trees, magnolias and Mediterranean pines, while old fountains, ceramic benches and gazebos line the paths. The park is particularly beautiful in spring, when the trees are in bloom and fill the air with the scent of oranges.

Among the best-known places are Plaza de América, the Fuente de los Leones fountain and the 1929 exhibition pavilions in the Neo-Mudéjar style. Plaza de América is often called the “Pigeon Square”: peacocks, ducks and other birds roam freely here. The Archaeological Museum and Museum of Arts and Popular Customs are nearby.

You can walk through the park, cycle or take a horse-drawn carriage. There are also green lawns and shaded areas for relaxing.

Parque del Alamillo

Parque del Alamillo is one of Seville's largest urban parks on La Cartuja island, next to the Expo’92 site, Isla Mágica and the Olympic Stadium.

The park opened in 1993 following the Expo’92 World's Fair. Part of the site was originally used as a plant nursery for the exhibition, and a large green area with lakes, cycle paths and botanical collections was later created here.

There are spacious avenues, picnic lawns, children's play areas, sports facilities, bicycle hire and a miniature railway. At weekends, the park hosts family events, fairs, concerts and seasonal festivals.

Parque de La Tirolina, better known as Bárbol, is a modern family park in the town of Dos Hermanas, south of Seville, located in the green area of Parque Forestal Dehesa Doña María.

The main feature of Bárbol is a huge play structure in the shape of a fantastic tree, almost 10 metres high. The park opened in 2023 and was designed as a large inclusive space for children of different ages.

Inside the structure there are suspended bridges, climbing nets, rope elements, hanging baskets, tunnels and large enclosed slides, all connected inside the tree's “trunk”. This allows children to move around the complex without having to return to ground level.

Green areas and walking paths surround the playground, complementing the play space.

Parque Las Graveras rope park and leisure area

Parque Las Graveras is a natural leisure park in the San José de La Rinconada area, about 15–20 minutes' drive from Seville. It was created on the site of former gravel quarries, which were later transformed into a green area with a large lake and walking routes.

The main feature of Las Graveras is its combination of nature and active recreation. Here you can go kayaking and paddleboarding on the lake, take multi-adventure routes with suspension bridges and zip lines, have a picnic or walk along the paths beside the water. There are play areas and open spaces for active games for children.

The park is particularly suitable for those who want to combine a walk in nature with outdoor activities close to Seville.

Parque de los Príncipes

Parque de los Príncipes is a popular urban park in the Los Remedios district, close to the Guadalquivir River and the Triana neighbourhood.

The park opened in 1973 and was named after the Spanish princes Juan Carlos and Sofía, the future king and queen of Spain. Before the park was created, this area remained largely an empty urban space for a long time.

Today, Parque de los Príncipes is known for its shady avenues, lakes with ducks and swans, palm trees, orange trees, children's play areas and picnic areas. One of its most recognisable features is a small pond with bridges and birds. In spring, the park is particularly beautiful thanks to its flowering trees and rose gardens.

Unlike the more tourist-oriented Parque de María Luisa, this park has a more local, everyday atmosphere: Seville residents come here for jogging, walks and relaxation.

🧗 Outdoor activities and adventures

There are several places near Seville for more active outdoor recreation. Adventure parks, zip lines, climbing, kayaking and forest trails allow you to add a little adventure to your trip and get away from the historic centre.

Bosque Suspendido adventure park

Bosque Suspendido is one of the most unusual outdoor adventure parks near Seville and the first treetop adventure park in Andalusia. It is located in the natural area of La Juliana, near the town of Bollullos de la Mitación, about 20–30 minutes' drive from Seville city centre, among an old pine forest.

Bosque Suspendido opened in 2004. Many of the courses and platforms are built directly among the pine trees, making the routes feel more like a forest adventure than a traditional rope park.

The main feature of the park is a series of suspended routes between the trees, with bridges, nets, ropes, Tarzan swings and long zip lines. There are courses of different difficulty levels, from family routes for children to more extreme sections at considerable heights. One of the most popular routes includes zip lines with a combined length of more than one kilometre.

In addition to the rope courses, there is climbing, archery, paintball, high jumps and night-time forest routes with torches. There are leisure and picnic areas around the site, while the trees provide shade during the hot season.

Adventure Park Sierra Norte

Adventure Park Sierra Norte is an outdoor adventure centre in the Sierra Norte de Sevilla natural area, about an hour's drive from Seville. The park is located among the hills, forests and reservoirs of the Sierra Norte nature park.

Visitors can enjoy rope courses, zip lines, climbing, kayaking, mountain bike trails, archery and various team activities. Some programmes are designed for families with children, while others are more suitable for teenagers and groups of friends.

The main difference with Adventure Park Sierra Norte is the combination of active entertainment with a natural setting: instead of urban attractions, there are pine forests, lakes and spacious trails through the countryside.

During the hottest hours of the day, indoor entertainment centres are a convenient alternative to exploring Seville on foot. Trampoline parks and play spaces allow children and teenagers to stay active indoors at any time of year.

JumpYard Sevilla is a modern indoor activity park with trampolines, play areas and sports activities.

Crazy Zone Trampoline Park Sevilla is another indoor park offering trampoline and sports activities for children and teenagers.

The park is more focused on active entertainment, making it particularly interesting for children who enjoy jumping, climbing and trying out parkour elements.

Diver Jump Trampoline Park

Diver Jump Trampoline Park is an indoor trampoline and family park in Alcalá de Guadaíra, about 15–20 minutes' drive from Seville. It is located in the Parque Comercial Guadaíra shopping area.

There are large trampoline areas, obstacle courses, foam pits, play mazes and spaces for active games. In addition to regular jumping, visitors can take on sports courses and play challenges.

Diver Jump also hosts children's parties, birthday parties and family events, so the park is suitable not only for regular visits but also for organised entertainment.

Pandora Park is a compact family entertainment centre in Seville, with a focus on active games and physical activities.

This is an option for those looking for indoor entertainment without the scale of a large theme park — especially in hot weather or when outdoor activities are less comfortable.

Canguro Aventura Aljarafe children's play centre

Canguro Aventura Aljarafe is an indoor family centre in the Mairena del Aljarafe area, west of Seville, aimed primarily at younger children.

The space combines play mazes, trampolines, ball pits, slides, mini football, creative areas and interactive play spaces. Birthday parties, children's parties and seasonal events are also held here.

There is a café and viewing areas for parents, where they can watch their children while they play.

🚤 Guadalquivir River cruises

A cruise along the Guadalquivir allows you to see Seville from the water and discover the role the river has played in the history of the city, which for centuries was Spain's main port on the route to the New World.

During the cruise, you can see the bridges over the Guadalquivir, the Triana neighbourhood, Torre del Oro, Plaza de Toros, the modern areas of La Cartuja island and some of the Expo’92 pavilions. Evening cruises are particularly popular for the sunset views and the city's illuminated landmarks.

Most sightseeing boats depart from the quays near Torre del Oro, the Triana neighbourhood and Paseo Alcalde Marqués del Contadero. This is practically the city centre, not far from the main tourist routes. You can also buy tickets for the next departure there.

Standard sightseeing cruises usually last about one hour and cost around 15–20 euros for adults, while children often receive discounts. Some companies offer audio guides or guided tours with live commentary in several languages.

For classic rides, roller coasters and themed shows, Isla Mágica is a good choice, while for panoramic views of Seville, head to Nao Vigía.

In summer, for relaxing by the water, you can choose Agua Mágica with its “urban beach” atmosphere or Guadalpark with a wide range of water slides and attractions.

For walks and relaxing in nature, good options include Parque de María Luisa, Parque del Alamillo, Parque de los Príncipes, Parque Las Graveras and Bárbol in Dos Hermanas. Animal lovers should consider Aquarium Sevilla, MundoPark, Cañada de los Pájaros and La Reserva Natural El Castillo de las Guardas.

For active outdoor recreation, Bosque Suspendido and Adventure Park Sierra Norte are good choices, while in hot weather or when the weather is poor, you can choose indoor centres such as JumpYard Sevilla, Crazy Zone, Diver Jump, Pandora Park and Kangaroo Adventure Aljarafe.

If you want to see Seville from the water, a cruise along the Guadalquivir is a good option, especially in the evening at sunset.
