Hunger Games in Asturias

The green region of Asturias in Spain has once again become the centre of attention in the film industry. And this is the second time this year!

"Paraiso Natural" - natural paradise is the name given in Spain to this amazing area in the north of the country with its numerous hills, mountains, lakes and lush evergreen vegetation. It is a place that begs to be captured not only in memory, but also on the frames of famous films. Marvel's Fantastic Four was filmed here last time (Calatrava's famous building in the centre of Oviedo was temporarily the UN headquarters).

Now the Asturian town of Somiedo, or rather the Somiedo Natural Park, is becoming a natural setting for the filming of the acclaimed blockbuster The Hunger Games. 
"Sunrise on the Reaping" - is the next and final instalment of The Hunger Games, starring such well-known actors as Elle Fanning (a young Effie Trinket) and English actor Rafe Fiennes, who gained worldwide fame for his role as Voldemort in Harry Potter. It also stars others who have already been on screen, but have yet to make a big name for themselves in the film industry. The lead role is given to Australian actor Joseph Zada. After the release of The Hunger Games, this will inevitably affect his popularity. For the better, of course.
One of the main filming locations for the Hunger Games in Asturias was Lago del Valle, the largest mountain lake in the region. Once formed from a glacier, its interesting elongated shape and crystalline waters against a backdrop of imposing mountains already attract many tourists. According to locals, all the hotels are already booked up, lots of cars with trailers and vans have been spotted everywhere, and there is a lot of set-building activity going on, with walking paths, circular pads and a rather impressive Horn of Plenty being laid out. Filming of the Hunger Games in Asturias has been set for July-August 2025.
